Experiencing low energy, weight gain, or hair loss? Nails break easy?
This could be your thyroid.
Been treated for hypo or hyper thyroid but still don’t feel at best?
Maybe been told your thyroid is fine or normal, but still have these symptoms???
This could still be your thyroid.
Dr. Lemley is extremely adept at managing disorders of the thyroid gland. One thyroid test (often a single TSH test) cannot tell the entire story. Dr. Lemley often runs a battery of thyroid function tests, including TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3 uptake and antibody testing, and more. Dr. Lemley has found many to be taking what he has termed “unnecessary thyroid hormone replacement.” In these situations, nutrient optimization, or “thyroid food” can be administered for proper production and conversion of thyroid hormones.
In instances where there is an overt thyroid abnormality (such as Hashimoto's Disease), Dr. Lemley will work to find optimal thyroid hormone medication. There are a few thyroid hormones to include in thyroid hormone replacement. These include: Armour Thyroid, Natrathroid, T4/T3 compounded combos, or simpleT3 (Rx Cytomel), and others. These often fair better than the conventional Levothyroid or Synthroid which consists of only T4. Humans don’t use T4 for their metabolism, they use T3, and some may experience difficulty converting their T4 into T3 (which the cells use for metabolism). Patients by and large fare better on some combination of T4 and T3.
Thyroid Conditions treated:
-Hypothyroidism, including Hashimoto’s Disease (autoimmune hypothyroidism)
-Hyperthyroid, or Graves Disease
In 20+ years of practice, Dr. Lemley has had great success treating all these conditions, including Graves Disease. For Graves sufferers, the conventional approach is taking aggressive anti-thyroid medications, radioactive iodine to basically kill of the thyroid gland and/or surgery to remove the thyroid gland. Following the last two interventions, that individual has to rely on taking some form of thyroid hormone for the rest of their lives. Certainly, there can be indication for these aggressive medical intervention and procedures, but they should be utilized as a therapy of last resort. In 20+ years of working with thyroid disorders, Dr. Lemley has helped many from having to resort from getting their thyroid killed off from use of radioactive iodine or from getting their thyroid gland removed. Many treatment success and remissions have been found with his patients.
